Breaking Through Emotional Blocks
“I’m an actor who believes we all have triggers to any stage of emotion. It’s not always easy to find but it’s still there.” – Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman’s quote alludes to the fact that the actor has to access all of his or her emotions in order to deliver an authentic performance. But like everyone, actors have certain feelings that are more difficult to tap into than others.
What does the actress do when a role calls for her to access her rage eight times a week on stage, but the woman in her personal life has a difficult time raising her voice? Or the actor who has to break down and cry on stage every night, but in his personal life cannot shed a tear?
While there are multitudes of acting classes to choose from, The Inner Stage™ provides something unique. In a safe and confidential space, it helps the actor break through emotional blocks within him or herself through the techniques of creative arts therapy and psychodrama. It is a powerful experience when we discover what our resistance to an emotion is really all about. We then are able to bring more of ourselves and our emotions to our performances.
Come play the most important role of your life…you! The Breaking through Emotional Blocks™ workshop will be held at Ripley-Grier Studios in Manhattan on April 30th from 6-9pm. For more information and to register, please click here.
